Boston: Further Adventures

I spent the day after Independence Day lying around hungover feeling sorry for myself. I took no pictures and I still attest to this being the worst hangover of my life. At least it was for a good event, right? After this day of moping and weeping, I rested up and felt all fine and dandy for my third day in Boston. I was still staying with Eric and Leonardo at this point, but Leonardo had left for Texas, leaving Eric and I to explore Boston together.

Inside the Boston Public Library.

I'm not a fancy kind of hooker, so I had to use the general hooker entrance.

In front of the Bunker Hill Monument, where a battle was fought in 1775.

I look kind of insane here, don't I?

We also visited the USS Constitution, a really big boat. Didn't learn much about it but it was pretty cool. Also didn't take any pictures there. Eric had to go to work so I took off in search of Harvard University, my second Ivy League school to snoop around. It was an open day so I got a tour of it too!

I found a squirrel stuck in a bin with a bin on my solo walk around. I whipped off the lid and jumped back just in case it attacked me. It popped out and seemed rather stressed about the whole ordeal before running off back to his day. I'm kind of the opposite of that cat bin lady now and the squirrels of Harvard hold me in high regard.

More snoopin'.

I treated myself to a dinner of steak tips afterwards, which I'd not had before. Just nice little bits of steak, neatly chopped up by mommy and cheaper than a full steak too. Woohoo!

After dinner, I found myself craving some entertainment. I hopped online and found a stand up comedy taking place in an hour about an hour away. Off I sped in pursuit of fulfilling my entertainment craving and after paying my entrance fee, I watched the show alone. I headed out into the nearby square and sat down listening to a band busking, trying to avoid the man who had peed all over the wall I was sitting on, as well as avoiding his pee and warning anybody near enough as to what they were about to sit in/next to. Oh, America. A bench in the square became available and I went and sat my bum down on it. As I was alone, there was room for one more on the bench and as I saw someone approach I scooted over and looked up at him. It was none other than my Liberty Island companion Carl, who had found his way to Boston, watched the exact same show as me on the other side of the room and then decided to sit on the exact same bench as me. We were baffled at this coincidence and celebrated with an ice cream each. After chatting and catching each other up on our recent adventures, we went our separate ways.

My last morning in Boston before taking an early afternoon bus to Portland, Maine, was spent wandering around a very unique part of the city - a vegetable garden!

Overall, Boston was a nice city with good food, culture and lovely people. The rest of the country awaited me and for now, it was up North further into New England.

Thanks for reading,

Dan
