Greenwood Cemetery - Brooklyn - NYC

I visited the Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn twice. The first time it was raining, I was in a rush and I was wearing too many clothes for the humidity. The second time I had a chance to take my time and look around in the good weather. It's so big you need a map to navigate your way around, and I was stopped for directions once.
Some of the burial places are great tombs, others subtle slabs.

The cemetery also houses the location of one of the battles during the Revolutionary War. It's for this reason that there is a memorial to this battle within the cemetery.

This is a statue of Minerva, the Greek goddess, near to the memorial. She is waving to a very famous lady indeed.

Yep, she's waving to her good buddy the Statue of Liberty.

The Greenwood Cemetery is a good place to spend a couple of hours of quiet time, and a good place to get a view of Manhattan, even if it is a little blocked by the trees.
